About

Sophia McGovern’s passions for global health and creative writing led her across the world and right back home to campaigns, classrooms, and community poetry/writing events in Arizona. Through her work, she hopes to bring arts integration and creative programming into the classroom. She received her B.A. in English (Creative Writing), her B.A. in Global Studies, and her M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Arizona State University. She worked in global health, canvassed for voter registration, edited for local presses, taught ESL classes for union workers, ran youth poetry workshops, and taught in Arizona schools. Currently, she teaches English Language Arts at an alternative high school in Tempe, Arizona, runs little somethings press, and is a fiction editor for Iron City Magazine.
